British Standard locks kite marks
There are a few British standard locks available on the market. The most common one is BS 3621 and is also known as a mortice lock or a Chubb lock. It can be as a stand-alone lock or fitted together with a handle and latch mechanism. Mortice or sash locks are usually installed on the lower part of the front door, or at the back on a patio or garden door.
Mortice locks will always have a traditional keyhole in both sides of the door. There are no mortice locks with thumb turner.
If you are looking for a front door with turner, that has a British standard kite mark, then go for a BS EN 1303:2005. Other lock types in this category are also: Rim (Yale), Oval, Screw-in cylinder, Scandinavian cylinders. Keep in mind that Euro lock also needs to be fitted in a standard British mechanism as it is not a standard alone lock mechanism as the mortice lock mentioned above.
BS 8621 is a Euro deadlock combination used in fire safety doors.
TS007 has a 3 start rating to high-security euro locks rating their security level. Generally speaking, 1* rating is a British standard lock, whereas 3* rating is a high-security British standard lock with a key cutting card. The higher the TS007 mark, the better the materials and components of the lock. It will be significantly harder to break through it, and also for an experienced locksmith, it might take up to a 1.5 hour to drill into a 3* British standard locks.

What is BS 3621?
BS3621 is a regulation mark from 2007 to ensure a unified standard for home security locks. When you buy a lock, look for the British standard heart shape kite mark. You are guarantee to have good quality and protect your home. The British Standard locks are insurance approved.
If you have any burglary, your insurance will cover you if you have locked your mortice lock, or if your Rim lock is of a British standard cylinder and the night latch box set. If your cylinder is BS and your night latch box is standard or traditional, then you are not covered. Furthermore, if you have your door fitted with BS mortice lock and you have not locked it during a burglary, then you are not covered. Same goes for a Euro cylinder with thumb or key to key. Both cylinder and mechanism need to be British Standard; otherwise, you are not covered.
You can send us over photos of your front door security locks, and we will tell you which security level they are and advise you of upgrades available and prices.

Our recommendation
Keep in mind that to get your external door locks to qualify for standard house insurance, you must have at least one lock with a British standard rating. Keep in mind that you need to fisicly lock your British standard lock for your insurance to cover you on a breakup, you would not be covered.
We recommend one of the locking systems:
1. A Rim night latch British standard AND British standard mortice to lock during the night.
2. A euro turner for UPVC doors, composite doors, communal buildings, or anyone who might lose key and want a quick fire escape.
3. If you have a back door leading to garden or patio make sure your lock also have a BS kite mark.
